I'm Andrea, a stay-at-home mom to four children ages 8 and younger. I've worn all my children and have valued the bonding experiences that baby carriers have enabled us to have. My second child had colic for over 6 months, and a ringsling I purchased then was the one thing that helped us both make it through those days.
I enjoy sewing, so I started making my own baby carriers; and after a while I decided to purchase my own small business so I could share them with others! :)

What shoulder style do Zanytoes slings have?
It is a gathered style. I've found this to be the most comfy as it cups your shoulder evenly and completely, and it spreads widely across the back to distribute your baby's weight comfortably.

Do Zanytoes slings have pockets?
Many Zanytoes slings have a double-feature pocket, which is located on the reverse side of the sling's tail. Each double-feature pocket has a secure Velcro pocket and a open pocket: one pocket for valuables and another for things you need quickly...like a toy or a pacifier! Only the Daily Silk and Splash! collections don't have pockets.

Are Zanytoes slings safe?
Every Zanytoes sling is made using the premium-quality, safety-tested aluminum rings from SlingRings.com. The rings bear much of the baby's weight, and it's very important to me to use the best quality of ringsling available.
Also, along with the rings, the shoulder area bears your baby's weight. Zanytoes slings are always at LEAST triple stitched at the shoulder area. Zanytoes slings don't just have a "backup plan" row of stitching should one row of stitching be compromised; there are at least two backup rows of stitching so that you can know you have a safe baby carrier to use.

Why a Zanytoes ringsling instead of a snuggli or bjorn?
The typical soft carrier sold in stores (I'll just call them all snuggli's from now on) is typically only comfortable for the first 4-5 months of your child's life. With a Zanytoes ringsling you can comfortably carry your child well into toddlerhood.
A snuggli forces all of your baby's weight onto the baby's crotch area. This can be uncomfortable for your little one and it may not be the best position for their spinal & hip development as well. In a Zanytoes ringsling, the baby's bottom is situated to sit lower than their knees, and the fabric supports them all the way to the back of their knees. This is a much more natural position and the optimal way to carry a baby for their development.
Zanytoes slings are easier and faster! You can keep the sling threaded through the rings so all you have to do is slip it over your head, put baby in and pull the rails to tighten.

Why a Zanytoes sling instead of a padded, cotton print sling?
I have found padding to be quite warm and bulky. I prefer the streamlined look and feel of no padding on the slings. The way the Zanytoes shoulder is sewn makes it spread comfortably over your shoulder with no pressure points.
The open tail of the sling (not braided, etc.) allows you to adjust the sling for optimal positioning of your baby. You can then have your baby snug and high against you, which prevents a sore back because your baby isn't "hanging" off of you; your baby's weight moves as part of you.

Why are Zanytoes slings this expensive?
Zanytoes ringslings are made from high-quality, durable materials. The linens, silks, and cotton sateens I use for Zanytoes slings can take much more wear than quilter's cottons before becoming thin and tearing. Because we're carrying our precious babies, these materials need to be as sturdy, safe, and comfortable as possible. Zanytoes ringslings are all that, and they're beautiful, too! :)
(Please read my How To Wear page linked on the upper left of this page for some safety tips.)

Sizing?
Every Zanytoes ringsling has its length noted so you know how long the sling actually measures.
A 68"-74" sling will fit most petite mamas; a 75"-80" sling will fit most average-sized mamas; and a 80"+ sling will fit most fluffier mamas.
Dads can wear babies too!! A small- to medium-sized dad would probably do well with a 75"-80" ringsling, and larger dads should probably order a sling measuring 80" or more.

Care/Washing Instructions
The materials used to construct Zanytoes slings have not been prewashed. Please expect your sling to shrink a few inches when first washed in water.
The Accent It, Splash!, and Daily Silk slings may all be machine washed on cold, and hung up to air dry.
The Mood Swings slings may be machine washed on cold, gentle (inside a delicates bag for the brocades) and hung up to air dry.
The Occasion slings may be handwashed on cold and hung up to air dry, or they may be drycleaned.
The Dream slings may be drycleaned only.
You may find that your silk slings will last longer if you spot clean (when possible) or dryclean.
